Gas Supply Sources in India

Domestic gas Sources

The domestic gas in the country is being supplied from the oil & gas fields located at western and southeastern areas viz. Hazira basin, Mumbai offshore & KG basin as well as North East Region (Assam & Tripura). It is being supplied and distributed in terms of the guidelines related to pricing and utilization policies issued by the Government from time to time. In FY 2018-19, total domestic gas production was about 90.05 MMSCMD.

Import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG):

In order to meet the gas demand, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is imported through Open General License (OGL) in the country and it is imported by the gas marketer under various Long Term, Medium Term and Spot contracts. The price and utilization of imported LNG is mutually decided by buyers and sellers. At present, country is having six (6) operational LNG regasification terminals operational with capacity of about 38.8 MMTPA (~140 MMSCMD).

City Gas Distribution (CGD) Networks:

Under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) Act 2006, PNGRB grants the authorization to the entities for developing a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network (including PNG network) in a specified Geographical Area (GA) of the country. CGD sector has four distinct segments – Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) predominantly used as auto-fuel, and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) used in in domestic, commercial and Industrial segments.

CNG:

Compressed Natural Gas , which is also known as CNG, is an auto fuel. It is low density and is compressed upto 200 bar pressure so that it can be stored in a larger capacity in
the fuels tank. Therefore, it is known as Compressed Natural Gas. This Natural gas is mixed with an odorant to add flavor similar to the odor of LPG from a domestic cylinder
so as to facilitate detection of its leakage. For setting up Aditya CNG Station of Aditya Fuels Limited, you are requested to apply vide respective advertisement published in local newspaper/online for areas/location as per advertisement.

CNG Silent Benefits

  • CNG is economical and one of the preferred alternative fuels sources for vehicles today.
  • It is pollution free and is a clean burning fuel.
  • Colourless, adourless, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic.
  • It is lighter than air, hence in case of leakage CNG disperses quickly into the air instead of on the the ground, reducing the risk of fire and ground contamination.
  • CNG burns cleaner in comparison to petrol and diesel.
  • Carbon Monoxide Emissions is then 80% and 44% fewer hydrocarbons are released into the air when CNG is burnt in comparison to petrol powered vehicles.
  • It does not pollute the groundwater in case of a leak as it is non-toxic and lighter than air.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should be of minimum 21 years of age.
  • He / she shall be of Indian nationality or a company registered in India or Non – resident Indians/persons of Indian origin or multi – National Company its registwred office in India.
  • Preference will be given to the applicants who own the similar business interest and having title free land / clear title lease land as per the required criteria.

  • Financial history / Background and financial stability
  • Current and future commitments
  • Should be computer literate, Responsible, Laborious
  • Licensee will invest capital in taking distribution license from AFL.
  • AFL will assist in setting up the project.
  • Licensee will operate Retail Outlet to sell CNGLicensee will get fixed commission per kg CNG sold.

Eligibility Criteria

  • As per Aditya Fuels Limited, businessman will get five years income tax rebate, subsidy from government and loans from nationalized banks. Below is the complete procedure
